Using KnowledgeTree Drop Box

KnowledgeTree Drop Box > Using KnowledgeTree Drop Box

This procedure starts the KnowledgeTree Drop Box, modifies Drop Box settings, and uploads documents and folders from the Windows desktop or from within Windows Explorer into the KnowledgeTree repository through the KnowledgeTree Drop Box.

 

Pre-requisites:

KnowledgeTreeLive account
KnowledgeTree Drop Box installed on the client machine
Dropped Documents user workspace added to KnowledgeTree

Note: The user's personal Dropped Documents workspace is created when the user first logs in to KnowledgeTreeLive.

 

 

Perform the following steps:

1.To start KnowledgeTree Drop Box, click Start - All Programs - KnowledgeTreeLive - KnowledgeTreeLive DropBox. The Drop Box widget opens on the desktop.

 

2.Do you want to ...
close the Drop Box? Right click on the Drop Box widget; then, select Exit; or, right-click on the Drop Box icon in the system tray to display the management menu; then, select Exit.

 

minimize the Drop Box to the system tray? Do either one of the following to minimize the Drop Box: right click on the Drop Box widget; then, select Minimize; or, right-click on the Drop Box icon in the system tray to display the management menu; then, select Minimize; or, double click on the Drop Box widget to minimize it.

 

configure Drop Box settings? Go to step 3.

 

upload files and folders? Go to step 4.

 

 

3.Configuring Drop Box Settings:

To configure Drop Box settings, right click on the application icon in the system tray to display the Drop Box menu.

 

 

Do you want to ...

 

view or change the KnowledgeTreeLive URL, your username or password? Click Settings.

 

configure Drop Box to load when starting your machine? Click Load on Startup.

 

configure the Drop Box widget to display continuously on your Desktop? Click Always On Top.

 

resize the Drop Box widget? Click Size; then, select Large or Small.

 

minimize/maximize the Drop Box widget? Click Minimize/Maximize.

Alternative step: Double click on the Drop Box icon in the system tray to automatically

maximize the widget, if it is currently minimized. Or, double click on the maximized

widget to automatically minimize it.

close the application? Click Exit.

 

4.Uploading files and Folders:

To upload files and folders, open the location on your local machine where you can

view the files and folders you want to drag into the Drop Box; then, 

4.1.Ensure that a connection is KnowledgeTreeLive is established, and that the Drop Box widget is open on your desktop (see step 1).

 

4.2.Ensure that your username, password, and the KnowledgeTreeLive URL (including KnowledgeTreeLive account name) are correct.

Note: Your username, password, and the KnowledgeTreeLive URL must be correct for

files and folders to upload. A system message displays when these items are not

correct, and advises you that file and folder uploads will not work. 

 

4.3.Select files and folders to upload; then, drag these files and folders across the desktop onto the Drop Box widget.

 

4.4.The Drop Box progress bar displays the status of the upload as your files and folders are uploading.

 

4.5.Documents and folders are uploaded to your Dropped Documents workspace in KnowledgeTreeLive, and the document metadata is automatically populated in the document's Document Details page.

 

What happens if I need to cancel the upload while upload is in progress?

 

To cancel document upload before the upload is complete, click the Cancel button (X icon on the dashlet).
Successfully uploaded documents are added to the KnowledgeTree DMS.
