KnowledgeTree Office Add-in > Working with the KnowledgeTree Office Add-In > Saving a KnowledgeTree document as a new version

This procedure saves a Microsoft Office document as a new version of an existing KnowledgeTree document, from within Microsoft Office.

Pre-requisites:

To perform this procedure, you will need all of the following:

KnowledgeTree Office Add-in, installed on the client machine.
A valid connection to KnowledgeTree, set up and working on your machine.
At least 'read' permissions on the folder where the document is stored (to view a local copy of the document).
The document saved to KnowledgeTree.

Perform the following steps:

1.On your Windows computer, open the relevant Microsoft Office 2007 application - Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.

2.Log in to KnowledgeTree, if you are not already logged on in another KnowledgeTree Office Add-in session.

3.Locate the document in KnowledgeTree - search, or browse the folder structure.

4.Select the document; then, click Save As New Version. Confirm that you want to overwrite an existing, older version with this version of the document. In the Comment box that displays, provide a reason for this action; then, click Check-in.

5.The document is saved to KnowledgeTree, and the version number is incremented. The document is locked for editing by you so that other KnowledgeTree users cannot edit it, and is opened for further editing by you in Microsoft Office. The Properties page opens in Editing mode, and the following actions become available for this document, in the Actions pane: Save, Save and Close, Cancel Edit, Open Another Document, Email Document.
