This procedure edits a KnowledgeTree document in a supported Microsoft Office.
Pre-requisites:
To perform this procedure, you will need all of the following:
| • | Appropriate permissions on the relevant KnowledgeTree folder (the folder where the document is stored). |
Perform the following steps:
| 2. | Select the document in the KnowledgeTree folder tree; then, click Edit. |
Alternative step: Double clicking on a document selected in the tree opens
the document for viewing. If the document is currently checked out by you,
double clicking on the file in the folder tree opens it for editing.

| 3. | If your system administrator has enforced capturing of reasons when opening and editing documents, you will need to add a comment in the dialog that displays. |

| 4. | The document opens in the adjacent Microsoft Office application window, and is locked for editing in KnowledgeTree. The document's Properties Editing screen displays in the KnowledgeTree Add-in panel, and the Actions pane displays the following options: Save, Save and Close, Cancel Edit, Open Another Document, Email Document. |

| 5. | Make the changes you require to the document content, and or the document properties; then, when you're done, click Save and Close. The edited document is unlocked in KnowledgeTree, and is available to other KnowledgeTree users. |
Note:
| • | click Save to save your changes to KnowledgeTree and continue editing the document. |
| • | click Cancel Edit to restore the document to KnowledgeTree without saving your changes. |
| • | click Open Another Document to launch a new instance of Microsoft Office, of the same application type (Word, Excel, or PowerPoint), where you can open another KnowledgeTree document for viewing and / or editing without closing the currently open document. |
| • | click Email Document to email the most recently saved version of the KnowledgeTree document |
