Getting Started > KnowledgeTree DWI Service XML Language Reference

The KnowledgeTree DWI Service Windows Installer package includes an XSD file. The KTDWI.xsd  file specifies the KnowledgeTree DWI Service XML Schema, which is designed for processing files that are uploaded to KnowledgeTree, using KnowledgeTree DWI Service.

KnowledgeTree DWI Service can only process its own XML files - i.e. XML files that comply with the KnowledgeTree DWI Service XML language - and the KTDWI.xsd file specifies the format of these XML files, which may be created using a third party application.

Example XML Files

You can use these example XML files as a guide to creating the XML files for KnowledgeTree DWI Service:

*Example 1 - download from http://kt-download.s3.amazonaws.com/Example1.xml

*Example 2 - download from http://kt-download.s3.amazonaws.com/Example2.xml

Each document uploaded to the KnowledgeTree DWI Service watchfolder is accompanied by an XML file.

Two naming conventions may be used for naming the XML file:

Note: The format used is selected on the KnowledgeTree DWI Service Configuration Window.

1.

The XML file has the same name as the document it describes, except that it has the additional extension .xml.

For example, mydocument.pdf has an XML named mydocument.pdf.xml.

This format is recommended as it allows for the upload of XML files - i.e. mydocument.xml with XML mydocument.xml.xml.

2.

The XML file has the same file name as the document it describes, except for its extension .xml.

For example, mydocument.pdf has an XML named mydocument.xml.

The KnowledgeTree DWI Service XML language is fully documented on the KnowledgeTree Wiki.
