This procedure installs KnowledgeTree DWI Service.
Perform the following steps:
| 1. | Have you disabled caching on the KnowlegeTree Server? |
| • | No. Disable caching on the KnowledgeTree server before installing KnowledgeTree DWI Service. To do this, open the config.ini file (by default in C:\Program Files\ktdms; or, in any other location where you have installed the KnowledgeTree DMS server); then, set the value of the cacheEnabled element to false. |
Note: This is an optional, but recommended task, which may be performed at any time,
but preferably when installing KnowledgeTree DWI Service. Performing this task prevents
the Application Log filling up with KnowledgeTree DWI Service events, which may cause
KnowledgeTree DWI Service to fail.
Note: KnowledgeTree Hot Folders replaces KnowledgeTree DWI Service.
| 4. | Double click on the KnowledgeTree DWI Service Windows Installer icon to launch the KnowledgeTree DWI Service Setup Wizard. |

| 3. | Click through the pages of the Setup Wizard to install KnowledgeTree DWI Service: |
| 3.1. | On the Welcome to the KnowledgeTree DWI Service Setup Wizard page, click Next. |
| 3.2. | On the License Agreement page, click I Agree; then, click Next. |
| 3.3. | On the Select Installation Folder page, accept the default install location; or, click Browse to select another install location. When you're done, click Next. |
| 3.4. | On the Confirm Installation page, click Next. The install starts. |
| 3.5. | On the Installation Complete page, click Close. |
| 4. | The Installer creates the following items on your computer: |
| • | the KnowledgeTree DWI folder (installed by default to C:\KTDWI), which contains three sub-folders: archivefolder, failurefolder, watchfolder. |

| • | the application folder, which includes the KnowledgeTree DWI Service xml schema, in the .xsd file provided with the Installer package. |
| • | a menu item on the Windows Start menu. |
Note: To locate this item, click Start - KnowledgeTree - KnowledgeTree
DWI Service.
| 5. | After installing KnowledgeTree DWI Service, perform the following tasks: |
| 5.1. | Create a new user account, to be used exclusively for uploading files through KnowledgeTree DWI Service. |
Note: Creating a KnowledgeTree DWI Service-specific user account is optional, but
recommended. See the KnowledgeTree Administrator Manual for more information
on adding users.
| • | New users are added in the DMS Administration section of KnowledgeTree's Web interface. |
| • | This user account requires at least 'write' permission on the folders where content will be uploaded through KnowledgeTree DWI Service. |
| • | In environments with two or more installations of KnowledgeTree DWI Service, with two or more users uploading files using the KnowledgeTree DWI Service-specific user account, please ensure that, when adding this user account, you set the maximum allowable login sessions to accommodate multiple, simultaneous, logins. |
Note: In normal use cases, KnowledgeTree's maximum sessions setting intends to limit
the number of times a given user account can log in, before logging out. Typically, this
prevents a single account from being used by many different people.
| 5.2. | Set up the DWI document type, fieldsets, and fields in the DMS Administration module in the KnowledgeTree document management system. Go to Setting up DWI Service metadata. |
Warning: Do not disable KnowledgeTree's 'default' document type.
Note: Configuring metadata prior to using KnowledgeTree DWI Service for uploads is an
optional, although recommended, task - you can upload with unknown metadata.
| 5.3. | Create the XML file. The XML file must comply with the DWI Service XML schema in the KTDWI.xsd file, which is provided with the Installer package in the DWI Service application folder. |
