Getting Started > Logging In Administrator Default Administrator Password The KnowledgeTree installer automatically creates a default administrator profile - username 'admin', and password 'admin' - during the installation process. The administrative user uses the default login credentials to gain initial access to KnowledgeTree's web interface. For security purposes, please change the default administrative credentials at your earliest convenience. Passwords are changed in the Preferences tab in KnowledgeTree's Web interface. See also Changing the Default Admin Password and Restoring the Default Admin Password.
Users Authentication Access to KnowledgeTree may be set up in two ways:
KnowledgeTree's authentication process verifies the user's details at login to allow or disallow access to various areas of the system. Since the user's access to allowable actions on content in the repository is permissions-based, the authentication process determines the functionality that will be available to any particular user, based on their login credentials, and the permissions granted to their user profile.
Maximum Sessions The KnowledgeTree administrator may define a maximum number of times a particular user profile will be allowed to log in if they have not selected the Logout option on the interface to log out of a previous session - this is a security precaution to prevent multiple users from logging in to the system via the same authenticated user profile, simultaneously, and/or from different computers.
Note: By default, users are logged out automatically after a period of inactivity. When logging in again, the system opens at the page where the user was logged out. If a user is logged out automatically and has reached their maximum login limit, they will need to contact the system administrator to obtain access to the system.
Editing User Profiles User profiles are edited and updated in the Users and Groups section of KnowledgeTree's DMS Administration module in the Web interface.
