This procedure assigns a Unit administrator.

Permissions and Users, Groups, Roles in KnowledgeTree

Permissions are not assigned to individual users in KnowledgeTree - permissions are assigned to Roles and Groups

Users inherit permissions, based on their ownership of a Role, or their membership of a Group

Groups are added to Units - when adding the group to the unit, you can define whether members of the group have unit administrator privileges in the Unit

Roles do not get Unit Administrator privileges; only Groups may be assigned as administrators in a Unit

To provide a user with administrator rights in a Unit, the user is added to a group, the group is added to the Unit, and the system administrator assigns Unit Admin privileges to members of the group

Perform the following steps:

1.Open Users and Groups in DMS Administration.

2.Has the relevant user been added to KnowledgeTree?
Yes. Go to step 3.
No. Add the user to the system.

3.Has the relevant group been added to KnowledgeTree?
Yes. Go to step 4.
No. Add the group - this is the group that will have administrator rights on the Unit. When adding the group, you can choose to assign unit administrator privileges to all members of this group.

4.Has the unit been added in KnowledgeTree?
Yes. Go to step 5.
No. Add the unit.

5.Has the group been added to the unit?
Yes. Go to step 6.
No. Add the group to the unit. When performing this task, assign Unit Admin rights to the group.

Note: See Viewing / Editing / Deleting Groups.

6.Do members of the group have Unit administrator rights on the relevant Unit?

Note: This is the unit where the group was added, and where you wish to assign

Unit Admin privileges.

Yes. In this case, the Unit now includes one or more users (members of the group) who are assigned as Unit Administrators.

No. Edit the group: Assign Unit Admin rights for the Unit. See Viewing / Editing / Deleting Groups.
