Managing KnowledgeTree > DMS Administration > Users and Groups > Manage Users > Adding Users

This procedure Adds new users to the system.

There are two ways to add new users in KnowledgeTree:

manually, within KnowledgeTree, or;
from an external authentication source

Note: Users are added through KnowledgeTree's default Authentication Provider. When using an external authentication provider, such as LDAP, ensure that the provider's plugin is registered and enabled.

Perform the following steps:

1. Use your administrator login credentials to open Users and Groups in DMS Administration; then, click Manage Users to open the User Management page.

2. Click Add a new user to open the Add a user page.

3. Are you adding this user ...

from an external authentication source that has already been configured for KnowledgeTree? Go to step 4.

from an external authentication source that has not yet been configured for KnowledgeTree? Add the authentication source to enable the authentication provider's plugin; then, go to step 4.

manually, within KnowledgeTree? Go to step 5.

4. Add the user from an external authentication source:

4.1. Select the authentication source from the pick list in the Add a user from an

authentication source section.

Note: It is not possible to convert a user from one authentication source to another.

4.2.Click Add from source to open the Search for user page for the authentication source you selected; then, do one of the following:

Type part or all of the user's name in the User's name field; then, click search for users. Exit this procedure.

Select Mass import to add all users from the specified authentication source; then, click search for users. Exit this procedure.

Note: The system does not allow you to verify the details of each individual user that

is included in the mass import.

Note: When bulk adding users from an authentication source, and the bulk add

includes users that already exist on the system, the duplicate users are added,

with 'duplicate' appended to their usernames.

5.Add the user manually:

Note: KnowledgeTree does not allow you to manually add duplicate users. Duplicate

users may only be added to the system through a bulk import of users via an

external authentication source, and in this case, the duplicate usernames are

appended with 'duplicate'.

5.1.Type a login name in the Username field.

5.2.Type the user's full name in the Name field

5.3.Type an email address in the Email Address field

5.4.Define whether or not to enable notifications - select Email Notifications

5.5.Type a password in the Password field; then, re-enter the password in the Confirm Password field

5.6.Type a mobile phone number in the Mobile Number field (if the system is configured to send notifications to cellphones)

5.7.Define a maximum number of times this user will be allowed to log in without logging out - enter a value in the Maximum Sessions field

Note: This function prevents multiple users logging in on the same account.

5.8.Click create user.

Note: A system message confirms that the new user has been added to the system.
